7-Day Best of Taiwan Tour: Ci’en Pagoda, Longpan Park, Chimei Museum, Tainan Confucius Temple

Fly to Taipei.

Pick-up from the airport and tranfer to hotels in Taipei City (check-in after 15:00).

After breakfast, drive to the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. It is the largest freshwater natural lake in Taiwan and one of the famous eight scenic spots in Taiwan. Begin with a visit to Ita Thao, an indigenous village that offers insights into the culture and lifestyle of the Thao people. Then, marvel at the grandeur of Ci’en Pagoda, an iconic Sun Moon Lake landmark. Visit the serene Buddhist sanctuary, Xuanzang Temple, and the imposing Taoist temple, Wenwu Temple.

After breakfast, transfer to Tainan, the oldest city in Taiwan. Visit Chimei Museum, Yongle Market (Guohua Street), Chihkan Tower, Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, Great Matsu Temple, Confucius Temple.

After breakfast, go to Kenting National Park. Visit Maopitou, aptly named as it resembles a colossal crouching cat when viewed from afar; Chuanfan Rock, a distinctive natural formation that resembles the sail of a ship; Eluanpi Lighthouse, recognized as one of the Eight Views of Taiwan; and Longpan Park, a coral limestone plateau overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

After breakfast, visit the Chimei Museum, which proudly houses an expansive collection of Western artifacts and provides visitors with a taste of European palace elegance. Then transfer to Yongle Market (Guohua Street), where you can’t miss the popular queue foods. Visit Fort Provintia, designated as a national historic monument. The Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, one of the earliest Guan Di temples, stands as a testament to ancient government sacrificial rites. Later on, visit the Grand Mazu Temple, commonly known as Taiwan’s inaugural government-built Mazu temple.

After breakfast, explore the renowned Tainan Confucius Temple, delving into its rich cultural legacy. Then visit Lukang, a historic old town renowned for its well-preserved cultural and historical heritage. Take a leisurely stroll through the town adorned with red brick walls and floors, and enjoy street foods and traditional Taiwanese desserts. Drive back to Taipei, arriving at approximately 18:00, marking the end of your pleasant trip to Taiwan.
