The Spanish city of Bilbao is one the most populous metropolitan areas in northern Spain. Bilbao was one of the first towns to be founded in the 14th century. The city was founded by Diego Lopez V of Haro who established the town on the right bank of the Nervion river. The historical Port of Bilbao is one of the top five ports in Spain; making it one of the many historical milestones the city holds. The city is also famous for its modern culture, most notably the Guggenheim Museum which exhibits modern Bilbao art.
