Surrounding the upper Bow River in Alberta, the valley is named for the reeds that grow along the river banks that were utilized by First Nation people to make bows. Within the valley is the Bow Valley Provincial Park, Banff National Park, Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park. While the natural landscape of the park is well preserved, the region is popular among tourists for horseback riding, camping, mountain biking, snowshoeing, wildlife surveying, fishing, canoeing, and other outdoor activities.
