About Bright Angel Lodge

This rustic inn designed by notable architect Mary J. Colter in 1935 is located a few feet away from the Grand Canyon South Rim. It contains both lodge and cabin rooms, a family restaurant, a specialty Southwestern cuisine eatery, a bar, a nostalgic ice cream fountain, a gift shop and a history room. The hotel, which offers amazing views of the canyon, is a contributing property to the Grand Canyon Village District that is a U.S. National Historic Landmark.

Grand Canyon National Park

This 1,904-square-mile national park established in 1919 spotlights the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon - one of "The Seven Wonders of the Natural World" and nearly 2,000 million years old. Grand Canyon National Park consists of the natural wonder's North, East and South Rim with the latter attracting the majority of the tourists with its viewpoints, lodgings, services and activities. Mule rides are a popular activity and should be booked well in advance. The park is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and was featured on the 2010 "America the Beautiful" quarter collection. Points of interest are the Grand Canyon Visitor's Center, Grand Canyon Village, Desert View Drive, Hermit Road, Yavapai Museum of Geology and Phantom Ranch. Almost five million people visit the Grand Canyon per year. Its West Rim is maintained and operated by the Hualapai Native American Tribe.
