About Canadian Pacific Railway's Last Spike

This final spike was driven into the Canadian Pacific Railway on November 7, 1885 in Craigellachie, British Columbia by philanthropist Donald Smith signalling the end of a tedious and problematic construction of the country's first transcontinental railroad. The Canadian Pacific Railroad was built between 1881-85 connecting British Columbia and Eastern Canada. A commemorative sign marks the spot of the last spike.
