About Confederation Bridge

The eight-mile concrete box girder bridge connects Prince Edward Island with the New Brunswick mainland crossing the Northumberland Strait. The two-lane Confederation Bridge was built from 1993-97 and is part of the Trans-Canada Highway. Its nickname is the Fixed-Link Bridge and tourism on Prince Edward Island increased after the toll bridge opened in 1997.
