Many visitors come to this Maine town for its numerous outlet stores and it's also the location of the L.L Bean flagship store. "Yankee Magazine" once called Freeport the "Best Shopping Town in New England." Freeport was originally part of the town of North Yarmouth, which was settled in 1636 and later became separated in 1789. Notable sites include Freeport Maine Outlets, L.L. Bean, The Desert of Maine, Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, Winslow Park & Campground and Main Street.
