The city of Rockville is the largest incorporated city in the Montgomery county of Maryland. The city of Rockville was once an area for refuges of semi-nomadic Native American tribes as early as 8,000 B.C. until European settlers inhabited Rockville by 1700. In 1873, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad crossed through Rockville, connecting the city to Washington, D.C. The city is known for being the home to numerous software, biotechnology companies and federal government institutions.
