About Rogers Pass

Located in the heart of Glacier National Park, Rogers Pass is high mountain pass through the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. The Canadian Pacific Railway built a railway through the pass in 1884, and it was named a National Historic Site of Canada in 1971. It is famous for its winter snowfall, which amounts to about 10 m per year. The Royal Canadian Artillery uses 105 mm howitzers to knock down snow buildup around the pass, thus preventing unexpected avalanches from threatening traffic!
