Ronda is a Spanish city surrounded by prehistoric settlements dating as far back as the Neolithic Age. Some of these prehistoric settlements includes the Cueva de la Pileta, a cave that was discovered in 1905 to have prehistoric cave paintings. The city is situated on a mountainous area about 750 m above mean sea level; the city is also divided into two parts because of the Guadalevin River that runs through the city.
