The 404,063-acre California national park created in 1890 features the largest tree in the world by volume with the General Sherman Tree at 275 feet tall, 25 feet in diameter and 52,513 cubic feet in volume. Sequoia National Park situated next to Kings Canyon National Park in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range is home to a portion of the highest mountain in the 48 contiguous United States with Mount Whitney.
