The 509-foot tall building located in Manhattan near the East River has been the headquarters of the United Nations since it opened in 1952 and was designed with input from architects from multiple countries. The United Nations Visitor Centre offers guided tours, information sheets, exhibits and a gift shop. It welcomes more than one million visitors per year. The guided tours showcase various council chambers, human rights documents, relics of nuclear explosions and art donated to the organization throughout the years.
