About Whiteface Mountain

This 4,865-foot tall mountain within the Adirondack Range in Upstate New York provides stunning views of the surrounding peaks as well a Vermont and Canada if the sky is clear. Whiteface Mountain is a popular skiing destination and is the site of the Whiteface Ski Resort. It also was the location of the alpine skiing event during the 1980 Lake Placid, New York Olympics. The mountain contains the Whiteface Castle that is a veterans' memorial built from granite dug up when the Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway being constructed from 1929-35.
