About Woodstock

See the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill in this town’s Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Woodstock, not to be confused with the site of the renowned 1960s music festival, is also the birthplace of Edward of Woodstock, eldest son of King Edward III, who was born in Woodstock Manor which is also where Elizabeth, half-sister of Queen Mary I, was imprisoned. Not to be missed is the aforementioned Blenheim Palace, which is the only non-royal, non-Episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace.
