About Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve

The largest national park in the United States is this 13.2-million acre Alaskan treasure contains the St. Elia Mountains, Wrangell Mountains, Chugach Mountains, Nutzotin Mountains and the Robinson Mountains. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve was established as a national monument in 1978 and later changed to a national park and preserve in 1980. In addition to mountains, the International Biosphere Reserve has rivers, glaciers, lakes, forests, ice fields, wildlife, mineral mines and an active volcano.
